What is the International Balloon Festival of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu?

We are the largest balloon gathering in Canada, creating unforgettable memories for our festival-goers every year. Our festival emphasizes music and the wonder of hot air balloons.

When will the 43rd edition take place?

It will be held from August 7 to 9 and from August 13 to 16, 2026, with balloon flights scheduled from August 7 to 16, renewing our commitment to a 10-day hot air balloon experience.

When will I be able to register for the festival?

When does the first registration phase end?

The first registration phase ends on Friday, Febuary 12th. Don’t miss this opportunity to complete your form and participate in the 43rd edition, while being featured in our communications for the official lineup launch!

Why are festival registrations opening earlier this year?

We want to gather as much information as possible to highlight the pilots and their hot air balloons during the official lineup launch..

By filling out the registration form now, you help us showcase your balloons in our communication tools. Your participation in this first phase will enhance your visibility and allow us to share your story and achievements with the festival-goers.

I have a special shape and would like to register for the festival. How can I do that?

If you wish to showcase a special shape at our next edition, feel free to express your interest by sending details of your available balloons to our coordinator at sroy@montgolfieres.com.

How can I add a second pilot to my hot air balloon for the festival?

To add an additional pilot, go to the “Aircraft” section of the registration form and add them. The second pilot will also need to fill out their own form to provide their personal information.

What documentation should I have on hand for the first registration phase?

It will not be possible to save your information in the registration form and return later. To simplify the process, we recommend preparing the following documents:

  • Pilot’s photo
  • Balloon’s photo
  • Balloon registration letters

Also, be ready to share your story and achievements to enhance your visibility on our platforms. Here are some examples of questions that will be asked:

  • Number of years participating in the festival
  • Years of experience as a pilot
  • Total hours of free flight accumulated
  • Countries visited by hot air balloon
  • Awards won
  • Records achieved
  • Notable accomplishments

Once my application for the festival is completed, when will I know if it has been accepted?

The validation process will take place by the end of the winter.

We will keep you informed in due time about the next registration phase. You will then be able to complete additional information, including:

  • Required documents
  • Paid flights
  • Chase teams
  • Activities
